Dogs Tags Are Made With A Genuine World War II Dog Tag Machine
Tags Are Made to Look Aged And We Can Put Anything You Want On Them. Each tag is patterned differently ranging from browns to blues to a little brassy color. Each order receives a long chain (about 30 inches) made to also look antique along with a 5 inch short chain. The set of antique dog tags is then put in a velveteen pouch or a soft burlap looking pouch. Pouchs are in red, black or the soft silky tan.
The machine you see pictured in our ad is a Graphotype 6340 Dog Tag machine. This model produced 98% of the dog tags made from World War II until the mid 80’s when it was replaced by a computer operated machine. This is important to you because it has the identical font and is capable of an 18 letter line. This allows us to work from photographs when you want a tag duplicated. The machine was made until the 1970’s in Euclid, Ohio by Addressograph Multigraph. 99% of the machines they made were used for making reusable address plates for companies with mailing lists. The advent of the computer bankrupted the company. If you want an exact copy of a tag, to check authenticity of the machine, it must be able to produce 18 characters or spaces per line. There are some foreign made machines that can do that, but these are seldom found on Etsy.
